The United States on Tuesday began banning imports of a range of Canadian products, led by alcoholic drinks, whey protein and large motorcycles above 800cc, according to AFP. The White House announced the move on 8 September after Ottawa imposed new duties on US goods in response to earlier American tariffs, and President Donald Trump defended it by citing what he called Canada's discriminatory boycott of US alcohol. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has described the latest US measures as relatively modest overall, but the dispute marks a further escalation between the two close trading partners.
