US President Donald Trump gave holiday cash gifts totalling more than $150,000 to four close White House aides, according to financial disclosure forms released by the administration last week. Executive assistant Natalie Harp, communications adviser Margo Martin, and deputy director of Oval Office operations Chamberlain Harris each received $45,000, while director of Oval Office operations Walt Nauta — a former personal valet who faced (and was cleared of) federal obstruction charges related to Trump's handling of classified documents — received $20,000. A White House official said the gifts reflect Trump's longstanding personal practice of giving Christmas presents to those in his orbit and are "entirely permissible under relevant legal and ethical standards," as they are unconnected to the recipients' official government duties.
