A new poll by Uruguayan firm Opción shows disapproval of President Yamandú Orsi's government reaching 57% in the third quarter of 2026, up sharply from 48% the previous quarter, while approval slipped to just 19%. The decline is driven less by a fall in support than by a rapid shrinkage of undecided voters — those without a settled view dropped from 51% at the start of the mandate to 24% now — meaning more Uruguayans are forming a negative judgment. Notably, disapproval rose nine points among the government's own Frente Amplio (Uruguay's centre-left ruling coalition) voters, the steepest such increase of the term, coinciding with a controversy over the purchase of an official vehicle that featured in public debate for the first time during this survey period.
