Nigeria's Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has issued a public health alert warning that heavy rainfall and potential flooding are expected between 13 and 17 April in states including Adamawa, Kaduna, Kogi, Plateau, Taraba, Osun, Oyo, and Enugu, among others. The agency cautioned that the rains coincide with a period of rising cholera activity already detected in national surveillance data, and that flooding could worsen the outbreak by contaminating water supplies and disrupting sanitation systems. Residents have been urged to use safe water for drinking, practise regular handwashing, avoid contact with floodwaters, and seek medical attention promptly if symptoms such as diarrhoea or fever develop.
