Dr Vincent Brown, 65, formerly known as Vincent Bajinya, will stand trial at the Old Bailey in London from October 2027 on charges linked to the 1994 genocide in Rwanda, a judge ruled on Friday. He is the first person in the UK charged over the killings, in which an estimated 800,000 Tutsis and moderate Hutus died over 100 days; he is accused of one count of conduct ancillary to genocide and six of conduct ancillary to murder as a crime against humanity, and has indicated he will plead not guilty. The case follows a seven-year British investigation and matters as a rare attempt to prosecute alleged genocide suspects living abroad.
