A 15-year-old girl who entered a secondary school in Istanbul's Başakşehir district wearing its uniform stabbed eight pupils on Tuesday morning, and one of them has since died, Turkish officials said. Police detained the suspect, a 10th-grade student at another school, and of the wounded, one is in critical condition; authorities have found no sign of a political or ideological motive. The school is an imam hatip (a state-funded religious secondary school), and a court has imposed a broadcasting ban on coverage of the attack, a rare act of violence in Turkish schools.
