A Dutch prosecutor has called for a 12-year prison sentence for a 48-year-old Amsterdam municipal tax official accused of illegally accessing city databases more than 600 times over nine months and leaking residents' personal data to criminal intermediaries. Prosecutors say the leaked addresses and personal details were directly linked to 95 violent incidents, including 36 bombings, eight residential shootings, two attempted murders, and one kidnapping — with violence often occurring within days of the data being accessed. Two alleged "information brokers" aged 35 and 42, arrested in July 2025, also face 10-year sentences each, with prosecutors arguing that without the stolen data there would have been "no front door to attach an explosive to, no vehicle to plant a tracker on, no location to eliminate a rival."
