South Korean forward Son Heung-min scored twice in the first half to lead the MLS All-Stars to a 4-3 victory over Liga MX All-Stars (a team of players from Mexico's top football league) at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Wednesday, earning him MVP honours in his first appearance at the annual exhibition. Playing for his club Los Angeles FC, Son — who also captained the MLS side — levelled the score after going a goal down and quickly added a second with a right-footed volley, both assisted by New England Revolution midfielder Carles Gil, before being substituted off in the 35th minute. The win makes Son the first South Korean player to claim the MLS All-Star Game MVP award.
