A fierce heatwave has tightened its grip on Telangana (a state in south-central India), with nine of its districts recording maximum temperatures at or above 43°C on 15 April 2026. Data from the Telangana Development Planning Society showed that 22 districts sat in the 42–43°C band, while only two districts, including the state capital Hyderabad at 41.4°C, fell below the 42°C mark. The widespread extreme heat underscores growing public health and infrastructure concerns as temperatures continue to climb across the region.
