The United Kingdom has signed a historic trade agreement with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC — a bloc of six Gulf states: Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE), making it the first G7 country to secure such a deal with the group. Under the agreement, up to 93% of GCC tariffs on British goods will eventually be eliminated, removing around €670 million in annual duties and potentially adding more than €4 billion a year to the British economy. The deal covers a broad range of sectors — from food exports such as cheese and butter to medical equipment, finance, and legal services — and is expected to boost bilateral trade, currently worth around €66 billion annually, by as much as 20% over time.
