A second US national infected with Ebola in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has been flown to Frankfurt for treatment, Germany's health ministry confirmed on Monday, with the patient — a warehouse manager in his 60s employed by the Christian aid group Samaritan's Purse — transferred to the city's university hospital after landing overnight. The World Health Organization identified him as a humanitarian worker based in Bunia, capital of the DRC's north-eastern Ituri province, the epicentre of the country's 17th Ebola outbreak, which has recorded more than 1,900 confirmed cases and over 700 deaths since being declared in mid-May. Separately, the Trump administration announced it was placing Americans who have recently been in the DRC on a no-fly list for US-bound commercial flights until they have spent at least 21 days in a third country, citing public health concerns under a federal transportation authority known as Title 49.
