France has launched disciplinary proceedings against its ambassador to the Central African Republic (CAR), Bruno Foucher, 65, following allegations of misconduct at his official residence in Bangui, the country's capital. The French foreign ministry confirmed that an administrative investigation was conducted on-site in April 2026, and that proceedings — which remain ongoing — were initiated at the request of the foreign minister.

The allegations emerged after French weekly satirical newspaper Le Canard Enchaîné reported that Foucher had invited approximately 30 women, aged between 20 and 30, to the ambassadorial residence during the period from January 2024 to March 2026, with some staying overnight. The ambassador has not issued a public statement, but reportedly acknowledged to investigators having had sexual relations with two of the women. He is also alleged to have instructed staff to allow one visitor to remain at the residence during his absence. Officials raised concerns that the visits represented a potential security breach at a sensitive diplomatic post.
