Chelsea has completed the signing of English international Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa for a reported €137 million, making him the most expensive English footballer in history, surpassing fellow international Elliot Anderson's €135 million move to Manchester City earlier this summer. Rogers, an attacking midfielder who contributed assists in England's World Cup quarter- and semi-finals, joins Chelsea on a contract until 2031 after a standout season with Aston Villa that included a fourth-place Premier League finish and Europa League victory. The 23-year-old described Chelsea as "the biggest club in London," while his former club Middlesbrough — which sold him to Aston Villa in early 2024 for under €10 million — is entitled to 20 percent of the profit from the transfer under a sell-on clause agreed at the time.
