Olaf Tufte, one of Norway's most celebrated athletes, has died at the age of 50 after being found unconscious on his farm. The cause of death has not yet been announced. Tufte competed at seven Olympic Games across a 26-year career, winning gold in the single scull (a solo rowing discipline) at both Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008, along with silver and bronze medals and two world championship titles — making him one of the most decorated rowers in history. Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre called him "one of the greatest Norwegian sporting heroes and one of the greatest rowers we have known."
