Dutch motocross rider Jeffrey Herlings has seized the lead in the MXGP (the top tier of the FIM Motocross World Championship) standings after winning both races at the Czech Grand Prix in Loket. The 31-year-old from Brabant was aided by injury to his main rival, Belgian teenager Lucas Coenen, who had led the championship until suffering a trapped hip nerve following a qualifying crash at the British Grand Prix the previous weekend. Herlings now holds a 49-point advantage over Coenen, a remarkable swing from the 68-point deficit he faced just eight days ago, with Frenchman Romain Febvre third in the standings.
