AI startup Anthropic has committed to spending more than $100 billion on Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud infrastructure over the next ten years, significantly deepening their existing partnership. Amazon has also announced a further $5 billion investment in Anthropic now, with an additional $20 billion to follow pending commercial milestones, on top of the $8 billion already invested. The deal reflects both companies' push to lead in the AI sector, with Anthropic racing to scale its models — particularly in coding and design — while Amazon seeks to expand adoption of its custom AI chips.
