Barcelona legend Xavi Hernández has omitted Memphis Depay — the Netherlands' all-time top scorer with 55 goals in 112 appearances — from his debut squad selection as Dutch national team coach. The 26-man squad, named for four upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures, also excludes World Cup regulars Wout Weghorst, Marten de Roon, and Guus Til, while Joey Veerman returns after being frozen out under predecessor Ronald Koeman. Feyenoord midfielder Gjivai Zechiël and PSV winger Ruben van Bommel are the only uncapped call-ups, and captain Virgil van Dijk continues despite uncertainty over his international future following the 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign.
