Israeli drone and artillery strikes have killed at least two Palestinians and wounded several others in the past 48 days, Gaza's Ministry of Health reported on Saturday, with attacks concentrated in the central city of Deir el-Balah and the southern city of Khan Younis. One strike, carried out without warning, targeted a family sheltering among displaced people's tents in Deir el-Balah, while Israeli forces also demolished homes and pushed further into civilian areas along what the military designates the "Yellow Line" — a buffer zone that has steadily expanded into populated neighbourhoods. The ministry says 1,285 Palestinians have been killed since a ceasefire was agreed in October 2025, bringing the overall death toll since the war began in October 2023 to 73,419, a figure authorities describe as incomplete as thousands remain buried under rubble and Gaza runs out of space to bury the dead.
