Ireland have claimed a historic T20 series victory over world champions India in Belfast, defeating the touring side by one run in the second match at Stormont (the grounds of the Northern Ireland parliament, where cricket is regularly hosted). Harry Tector scored a half-century in his 100th T20 appearance to help Ireland post 154-8, before India-born debutant Jai Moondra dismantled India's top order, leaving the visitors stranded on 153-9 despite a recovery innings from Tilak Varma. The series sweep — Ireland also won the first match by 34 runs — is particularly striking given that India had never previously lost an international men's fixture in any format to Ireland, and came without fielding teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who was again left out of the XI despite his record-breaking IPL season.
