South Korea's men's national football team has checked into their FIFA World Cup base camp in Guadalajara (a highland city in western Mexico, roughly 1,500 metres above sea level), six days before their tournament debut. The squad, captained by Son Heung-min and coached by Hong Myung-bo, was greeted by enthusiastic fans upon arrival after three weeks of altitude training in Utah, where they won both pre-tournament friendlies. South Korea will open Group A play against Czechia on June 12, before facing host nation Mexico and South Africa, with their primary goal of advancing from the group stage in the expanded 48-team tournament.
