Ten years after the far-right terrorist attack at the Olympia-Einkaufszentrum (OEZ, a large shopping centre in Munich) on 22 July 2016, families of the nine victims say fundamental questions about that night remain unanswered. The attacker, an 18-year-old German-Iranian motivated by racism and hatred of migrants, opened fire at a McDonald's and the surrounding area before entering the mall, killing nine people — almost all young and of migrant background — before shooting himself. Although the act was only reclassified as a far-right terrorist attack three and a half years later, bereaved families say they have received little transparency or compassion from authorities, with one parent telling German media: "We no longer believe anything, not even the police."
