At least 13 people have been killed and seven others injured after a landslide struck an unlicensed gold mine in southwest Colombia, local officials reported. The mine employed around 50 workers, most of them from the Quillacinga indigenous group. The disaster highlights the deadly risks faced by communities dependent on informal mining, which operates outside safety regulations across much of rural Colombia.
