Conservative podcaster Tucker Carlson has publicly expressed regret for backing Donald Trump, saying he is "tormented" by his support and apologising to those he felt he had misled. The remarks, made on his podcast alongside his brother Buckley Carlson (a former Trump speechwriter), were prompted largely by the US-Israel war against Iran, which began in late February and which Carlson has sharply criticised, calling Trump's rhetoric on the matter "vile on every level." The fallout marks a dramatic break between two figures who were closely aligned during Trump's successful 2024 presidential campaign, with Trump having since attacked Carlson on social media, dismissing him as "a Low IQ person — Always easy to beat, and highly overrated."
