A grass fire near Scrubs Lane in North Kensington caused a major electricity supply failure on Saturday afternoon, halting rail services across the Paddington area of London. London Fire Brigade deployed six engines and 40 crew to tackle the blaze, and firefighters also helped evacuate 380 passengers stranded on an Elizabeth line train (a major cross-London rail service connecting Heathrow Airport to the east of the city). The disruption suspended Elizabeth line services between Paddington and Heathrow and between Paddington and Reading, forced cancellations of Great Western Railway services, and left travellers bound for Heathrow facing severe delays across alternative routes, with disruption expected to last through the end of the day.
