More than 100 foreign trekkers are stranded along the Manaslu trail (a popular Himalayan hiking route) in Nepal's Gorkha district after a landslide blocked the Budhi Gandaki River on Sunday and triggered flash floods that swept away bridges, trail sections and more than 200 homes. Authorities rescued 321 people on Monday, including 12 foreigners, and the army said operations would continue Tuesday; no deaths have been reported, though five villagers are out of contact. The disaster comes months after a glacier collapse flood on a nearby tributary killed 1,457 people, and downstream districts have been told to evacuate or stay alert.
