New Zealand-born cricket coach Mike Hesson has said he would be open to taking on the Pakistan Test coaching role permanently, in addition to his existing white-ball duties. Hesson, who was handed the interim Test post less than a fortnight ago following the sacking of Sarfaraz Ahmed after Pakistan's defeat at Lord's, spoke after the side completed a 3-0 series whitewash against England, losing the third Test at Edgbaston (in Birmingham, England) by eight wickets. He cautioned that rebuilding Pakistan's Test fortunes would take time, citing deep-rooted structural issues in batting and squad selection, and said any final decision on a permanent appointment would rest with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and its selectors.
