South Korean boy band BTS swept all three of its nominated categories at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday, claiming Song of the Year, Best K-pop, and Best Group for "Swim," the lead single from its fifth studio album "Arirang" — marking the group's first-ever Song of the Year win, the ceremony's top honour. The group, which did not attend due to scheduling conflicts, said in a statement that the victory was especially meaningful as "Arirang" represents "a new beginning." Separately, BLACKPINK (a South Korean girl group) member Lisa made history by becoming the first Asian solo artist to win Best Pop, taking the award for her song "Dream" and beating out Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift, while Madonna led the night overall with seven trophies including Artist of the Year.
