Vereniging Eigen Huis (VEH), a Dutch homeowners' association, has received more than 900 complaints since February about unethical conduct by real estate agents, which it says is excessive. Reported abuses include bids being entered after official deadlines, pressure on buyers to raise their offers, and unclear property valuations — with several complainants saying they discovered through bid logs that they had been misled about competing offers. The VEH is now calling for the home-buying process to be enshrined in law with proper oversight, a position backed by both major Dutch real estate industry bodies, while a parliamentary member has separately begun drafting legislation to address the issue.
