Four tankers loading Kazakhstani crude at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) terminal near the Russian port of Novorossiysk were struck by drones over four consecutive days, prompting Kazakhstan's foreign and energy ministries to condemn the attacks as "unacceptable" acts aimed at destabilising global energy markets. The CPC is the main export route for around 80% of Kazakhstan's oil, carrying crude from the country's major fields through a 1,510-kilometre pipeline to the Black Sea, and handles more than 1% of global oil supply. The attacks, widely attributed to Ukraine though not publicly claimed, caused fires aboard the vessels and prompted the suspension of loading operations; Kazakhstan has demanded the strikes cease and reserved the right to seek compensation under international law.
