Updated Google Maps imagery from June shows further destruction of homes, mosques and infrastructure across Gaza since a fragile ceasefire began in October 2025, with towns such as Rafah and Tel al-Sultan largely flattened and tent camps lining much of the coast. A UN assessment found the number of destroyed structures has risen 9% since the truce, while Unrwa (the UN agency for Palestinian refugees) says about 82% of buildings are damaged and more than 2.1 million displaced people live in tents or temporary shelters. The findings underline the scale of the humanitarian crisis in the territory, where more than 74,000 Palestinians have been killed since the war began after Hamas's October 2023 attack on Israel, which killed about 1,200 people.
