A model-making group from Tienen (a Belgian city in the Flemish Brabant province) has presented the municipality of Glabbeek with a scale model of British Lancaster bomber NN775, which crashed in the village of Bunsbeek on 5 March 1945, killing all seven crew members on board. The aircraft had taken off that morning from Waterbeach, England, as part of a 170-bomber raid on a fuel refinery in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, before going down near the Velpe river. The model, which includes depictions of the seven airmen, will be permanently displayed in the Glabbeek town hall so that residents can visualise the aircraft and better connect with a piece of local wartime history.
