A bridge in Xiaogan, a city in Hubei province in central China, collapsed on 25 May following days of intense rainfall, sending a stranded vehicle into the swollen river below. Eyewitness footage captured the moment the structure gave way beneath the car, whose driver had been unable to reverse due to a malfunction. Local media reported that the driver and all passengers escaped safely before the vehicle was swept away.
